A late comeback attempt fell just short, as Brookfield East saw its season end in the first round of regionals for the fourth consecutive season with an 8-7 loss to Sussex Hamilton on June 11.
The seventh-seeded Spartans fell behind 3-0 after two innings but scored twice in the bottom of the third to make it a one-run game.
Hamilton, seeded 10th, answered with four runs in the top of the third to extend its lead to 7-2.
Trailing 8-3, Brookfield East scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Spartans couldn't pull even, however, as Hamilton reliever Noah Kristensen pitched out of the sixth and worked a scoreless seventh in relief of starter Andy Kornacki.
Danny Butler took the loss on the mound for Brookfield East, working six innings with no walks and a strikeout. Will Owen pitched a scoreless seventh inning with a strikeout.
Sam Gauger tripled and scored for the Spartans.
Brookfield East finished its first season under head coach Steve Bartlein at 16-15 overall. The Spartans have not won a playoff game since winning a regional championship in 2013.
